First of all, yesterday, which is February 6th Saturday, we had a schedule of very special day, which is Sports Day. Students were divided into three groups in the morning in LYSO hall: student welcomers, student leaders, and players. I was one of the 8 student welcomers, who greeted journey kids and other kids, and assign them to each team: A, B, C, D, E, F, G, and H. After greetings, we started to play fun sport games. We, as a group that was including the kids, ran, played basketball and soccer, and had fun time. Then in the afternoon, we went to church and opened worship concert. All the kids were invited, and we sang, showed them skits, and listened to some of the students’ testimonies about their beliefs in Christianity. This is what I heard from Mr. Dugas later; he said that the Sports Day that ISC opens is the only one day that all the kids can enjoy and they are always waiting for it every year. I was proud of what we have done but sad with such fact. During the sports games, I met the kid called “Nano”, who was really good with playing soccer. I had a conversation with him about how my life was and how his life was. It was a short conversation, so I could not know everything about him. But then during LAL time, Mr. Dugas told me some deep and sad facts about Nano’s life. I was really touched by his story. His life was so miserable that I couldn’t believe that he maintained his smiles on his face, and that he was enjoying his life. Next time I meet him, I will definitely have a serious conversation with him.
Today is Sunday, February 7th. Since Sunday is an important day for us Christians, Ms. Baker and other team leaders planned to go to church, that is located right next to our guesthouse, in the morning. We sang some songs, which include ‘Cornerstone’, and listened to the pastor’s speech about how Jesus sacrificed himself and saved us. For most of us from ISC, it was like review of what we knew in heart, but the pastor made his speech really well. We have much more time left today, and since today is Sunday, I think we will have fun as well as I had yesterday. I will now pass this duty to next person.
