Today was the sixth work day in Tacloban and it was a pretty fun day. In the morning, we went boating and got to go swimming. However, there were many jellyfish in the waters and they stung at least four people, but everyone is doing fine. It was a very sunny day so the sailing went smoothly, unlike the other day, when it was cancelled due to rain and windy seas. After we got back, we had lunch and prepared for AWANA, which stands for Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed. I was in the game group and we prepared three different activities: Over-under, Relay, and a numbers game. Afterwards, I played soccer with a bunch of local people and some students. It was pretty fun, even though they play hard, especially since I was the only girl on the field. Everyday, whenever the children come over, I always play soccer and I have developed some good relationships with the kids. In fact, the day before yesterday, one of the girls told me that I was like family, and today, before they left, a couple boys hugged me in addition to a high-five. Tomorrow is a fun day and we have a lot of fun stuff planned. For instance, we will be going to church in a theatre, which is located in a mall, and then hanging out for a couple hours. If the weather is good, we will be going to a resort which has a beach and a nice swimming pool, but if not, we will just hang out at the mall the whole day. Then, we will go to a nice Italian restaurant for dinner and head back. I’m very sad that this trip is ending soon, but I think I will come back again next year.
